Ingredients:
- 1 cup split yellow gram (moong dal)
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
- 1/4 cup green chutney
- 1/4 cup date-tamarind chutney (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon PIKS coriander powder
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for frying
- Chopped cilantro, for garnish
- Sev, anar dana or papdi, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Soak moong dal for 4-5 hours or overnight. Drain and grind into a coarse paste.
2. Add cumin seeds, coriander powder, and salt to the paste. Mix well.
3. Shape into small balls or patties. Deep-fry until golden brown. Drain excess oil.
4. Soak the fried bhallas in water for 30 minutes. Squeeze out excess water.
5. In a serving dish, place the bhallas and top with yogurt, tamarind chutney, green chutney, and date-tamarind chutney (if using).
6. Garnish with pomegranate seeds, sev, or papdi.
